We ask ourselves every day “what should I wear today?” and if you’re like me, even though I stare at a closet full of clothes I always complain that I have nothing cute to wear so yet again, I’ll revert to wearing leggings and a sweatshirt. Since graduating high school I found myself wishing that I dressed cuter or tried a little harder to curate outfits I really loved, not just what was trendy or what everyone else was wearing.

This year I have tried to figure out what my true style is and taking my skin tone and coloring into consideration and only buying what I truly love, what makes me happy, and only putting colors into my closet that compliment me. Which means there have been many cute tops I loved that I put back on the rack because they wouldn’t look good on me. I mean why in the world would I want to spend money on something that doesn’t make me look like my best self?

I always approach shopping now with an intentional attitude of what do I like, what do I know looks good on me, and what colors compliment my personal coloring. That attitude has made creating outfits and wearing them so much fun and you know what they say, when you look good you feel good. When I do this I know I look my best, I don’t have to think about how I look throughout the day and I can concentrate on what is important and on others. It’s freeing to be able to do those things with confidence just simply because I put more effort into what I’m wearing. I’m curious if any of you take these things into consideration already and if you don’t, I would encourage you to try it out!

  1. Even after more years than I can count trying to be better about paring down my closet, I have found an app to help. It is called Stylebook but I am sure there are others. You take photos of all of your clothing and organize them into outfits. It also helps when looking for new items to refresh what you have! Kudos for your intention!!
